Heal-n-Soothe - All Natural Anti-inflammatory Review

Heal-n-Soothe™ All Natural Anti-inflammatory alternative to Advil, Tylenol and Ibuprofen

healnsoothesmAre you sick and tired of painkillers that don’t seem to help you get any better? Fed up with feeling lousy from unpleasant side effects?

If your experience is anything like mine… you go to your doctor in pain and he or she tells you to stock up on NSAID’s(Non-Steirodal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs) or hands you a prescription for something stronger.

That’s it. Something to take away or ease the pain. But unfortunately… not the problem. And that something adds a host of unwanted side effects.

Where does the pain come from, anyway?

When you have an injury or unnatural condition in your body, your immune system kicks into high gear to tackle the problem. Pain and swelling are the normal side effects.

This ‘inflammatory response’ is a good thing, at least initially. It’s your body’s natural healing response – your body’s way of rushing freshly oxygenated blood and nutrients to the damaged area. Without it, you wouldn’t heal.

But here’s the problem. When you’re young and healthy, your body produces proteolytic enzymes that keep the inflammation in check. After age 25, the production of these critical enzymes drops substantially to dangerously low levels.

If you’ve ever wondered why a child heals so fast… it’s the power of proteolytic enzymes!

The true cause of persistent, painful conditions

When this inflammatory response persists too long or becomes too intense, the inflammation produces disease rather than healing.

In fact, millions who suffer from arthritis, back pain, and Fibromyalgia – just to name a few of the many inflammatory conditions – actually suffer from the pain of inflammation.

So, to tackle the pain of inflammatory conditions – which includes just about all sources of pain – you need to help bring the rampart inflammation under control.

Most people reach for their bottle of NSAID’s – or prescription anti-inflammatory drugs. Aspirin, ibuprofen, and prescription drugs work by inhibiting the actions of natural healing processes in the body. In addition, NSAID’s and acetaminophen have been shown to be toxic to the liver and damage the kidneys and intestinal tract.

Here’s the thing… NSAID’s provide only temporary relief and do not fix the problem causing the pain in the first place!

A safe, effective way to fight abnormal inflammation and stimulate healing

Heal-n-Soothe™ contains a powerful combination of proteolytic enzymes and proven herbs that:

Reduce inflammation and swelling
Block the pain-producing pathways
Decreases the release of pain-causing prostaglandins
Help restore normal healthy blood flow and circulation
Cleanse toxins and wastes from the blood
Protect cells from the damaging effects of inflammation
Promote normal joint flexibility and mobility

Imagine one pill doing all that! And without dangerous side effects.

Just masking pain isn’t enough. Lasting pain relief only comes when you reduce inflammation and increase blood flow and nutrients to the area… whether it’s an injury or a chronic condition.

If you suffer from any type of ache or pain, I suggest you give Heal-n-Soothe™
a try. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how well it works!

Can Saturated Fats and Trans Fats Actually Be Good For You?

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

by: Dennys Passeto

raw-meat-1For years, the media has come to vilify saturated fats in all of its forms. These  include butter, red meat, cheese, and the most talked about culprit - coconut oil. While some research would suggest that saturated fats are associated with a host of serious diseases, is it possible that saturated fats can also have some major health benefits?

The short answer is yes! There is a form of fat called CLA (conjugated linoleic acid), which is a natural form of healthy fat that occurs in meat and in the dairy from grass-fed animals such as cattle, bison, deer, goats, etc. CLA has been shown to provide many health benefits, including lowered LDL (bad) cholesterol and increased levels of HDL
(good) cholesterol.

While CLA has been proven to be beneficial to your overall health, keep in mind that not all saturated fats are created equal when it comes to their CLA content. Only meats and dairy products that come from grass-fed meats contain the most natural form of CLA. Typical grain-fed meats that are typically found at your local supermarket only contain about 20% of the CLA content that is found in the meat from ruminant animals.

Coconut oils have also been one of the most criticized forms of saturated fat by the media. Yet, study after study has been conducted, only to discover that coconut oils can actually lower your cholesterol, boost your metabolism, and decrease your waist size. Unlike other fatty acids that have been publicly accepted as healthy, coconut oil is rich in medium-chain triglycerides.

For all intensive purposes, medium-chain triglycerides are small enough to enter the mitochondria of your cells directly. This enables your cells to use these fatty acids for energy immediately. Otherwise, fat would be stored for later use. When fat is being used for energy instantly, it won’t have a negative effect on your body composition.

Overall, many saturated fats perform a critical role in allowing our body to absorb certain fat-soluble vitamins, such as A, D, E and K. They also play vital roles in the health of our bones, joints, and immune system functions. Probably the most powerful function of saturated fats for the general public is the fact that they actually slow down absorption from our foods, allowing us to go longer without feeling hungry. This sounds like a critical piece to the weight loss equation if you ask me! However, keep in mind that fat is the most calorie-dense macro-nutrient, so should be consumed in moderation when trying to support weight loss efforts.

The fact is, saturated fats provide a concentrated source of energy in the body and help provide the building blocks for a variety of key hormones. Without these building blocks, your body would not be able to perform everyday functions that are essential to life.

A great example of this is that the media encourages us to replace butter with lower-fat, “healthier” substitutes like margarine or other artificial spreads. These alternatives that are marketed as healthy replacements contain hydrogenated oils that are produced artificially (man-made) and their altered form has been linked to a host of
life-threatening illnesses. Yet, these products continue to be promoted as health foods.

The popularity of these replacements over otherwise healthy saturated fats represents a triumph of advertising duplicity over common sense!

It all comes back to eating a healthy, balanced diet that is comprised of natural foods. And yes, saturated fats occur in natural foods!

Redskins Cheerleader and Marathon Runner Has Terrible Reaction to Flu Vaccine

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

While having my morning cup of coffee one day last week, I had the morning news on in the background and heard a story that just outraged me.

It was a story about a local marathon runner and Redskins cheerleader named Desiree Jennings who back in August had the flu shot.  She has experienced some horrific side effects to this barely tested vaccine.

Someone was kind enough to post the clip I watched on You Tube.  check it out…

I thought long and hard about keeping my mouth shut this year as when I wrote about the dangers of the general flu
vaccine last year, I was torched by some who disagreed.

Then this past Sunday morning I’m watching CNN and saw a story about NY State Health workers being mandated to get the vaccine if they wanted to keep their jobs.  I found a snipet of that story as well here…

Is that crazy or what that you can lose your job by refusing to be injected with a virus!?!?

After writing about it last year, I did find comfort in some of the people who responded positively to what I had written. You can see that article here: Dangers Of The Flu Vaccine (Article will open in new window)

I thought about writing an updated article for this year given the new H1N1 hype and pressure from the media to get the shot.  When I finally saw Desiree’s story, I finally decided that I was going to.

That’s when I came across an excellently written article about a doctor who says he wouldn’t give the shot to his own children due to the lack of research involved with it.  Not only that the article that was so good, I felt there was no need to write my own.  Check it out here on their website…
Why You Should Not Vaccinate Your Children Against The Flu This Season
(Link will open new window)

The best way to avoid the flu is to get plenty of exercise, eat whole/clean/natural foods(preferably Organic Fruits and Vegetables) with plenty of vitamins/minerals, and get a solid 8 hours of sleep per night.  Those 3 things alone will build up and keep you immune system working at its absolute best.

People are always looking for a quick fix in a pill or vaccine.  Whether it be for weight loss or flu prevention.  Whatever happened to just doing the necessary fundamental things to achieve good health?  There’s no easy way around it.  There’s no magic pill.

DC Metro Area Leads The Battle Against Obesity

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

Most of us have heard at some point about the growing rate
of obesity in America and the risks associated with it.

However, few people really absorb the true impact obesity has
on our country and the daunting threat it presents to the
population.

Without beating the statistics to death, here are a few that
really hit home. Nearly one third of the country’s entire
population is considered obese. Obesity is defined as an
excess accumulation of body fat, leading to a body mass index
(BMI) of 30 or over.

According to the Center of Disease Control and Prevention,
the DC Metro area is slightly ahead of the game, reporting
that only 24.2% of its population is considered obese. Wow,
we’re actually ahead of the game in something other than
crime and traffic? You’ve got to be kidding me!

The health risks associated with obesity are nothing short
of horrifying. Amongst several others, obesity is a major
risk factor for cardiovascular disease, hypertension, certain
types of cancer and type II diabetes. Though awareness seems
to be increasing among the American public, it seems that
the true implications of the obesity epidemic remain somewhat
understated.

So let’s look at the facts. Obesity is the second leading
cause of preventable death in America, second only to smoking.
Obese individuals have an overall mortality rate that nearly
doubles that of normal weight individuals. Obesity reduces
life expectancy by up to 20 years, and it is estimated that
it causes 280,000 to 325,000 premature deaths each year.
Sadly, even being moderately overweight is associated with
a significant increase in the risk of premature death.

The point here is painfully obvious. Obesity is a HUGE
problem in our country. The question then becomes: What can
we do about it?

Any health professional will tell you that there are certain
guidelines you must follow to achieve a healthy body weight.

Let’s look at some of recommendations directly from the
surgeon general. Build physical activity into your regular
routine. Adults should get at least 30 minutes of moderate
physical activity almost every day, while children should get
about 60. In addition, food choices should follow the dietary
guidelines put out by the American Heart Assocation. This
includes consuming a diet that is rich in natural foods like
fruits and vegetables and minimizing the intake of higher
calorie foods that are packed with sugar or hydrogenated fats.

These guidelines seem so simple, so why are so many Americans
still struggling with their weight? While we may not have a
definitive answer, we can certainly identify one contributing
factor. It’s not that we are completely lazy as a society, it’s
actually quite the opposite. It’s that we are so inundated with
demands and responsibility, that our health sometimes takes the
back seat. Sometimes, people simply aren’t able to make their
health a priority!

We’d like to be part of the solution. Now that the kids are back
in school and you have a little more time freed up for yourself,
it’s time to focus on YOU! Through the end of September, we’re

Back Pain, Sciatica, Herniated Disc Expert Releases New Book

Friday, August 28th, 2009

If you suffer from any type of back, neck or sciatic pain, then you need to go grab a copy of my good friend, Jesse
Cannone’s new book, “The 7-Day Back Pain Cure” ASAP…

Right now he is actually giving it away… you can also buy it on amazon, but if you grab one of the free copies from his website he is going to donate $2 to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Habitat for Humanity - you even get to choose the charity!

Click here to get your FREE copy now

Now, I’ve known Jesse for 12 Years and he has personally helped me overcome my battle with lower back pain.  He is now known as the “back pain relief guy” because he’s helped so many people to finally get rid of their pain… and over the years, I personally have learned a lot from him…

He is a mentor, friend, and the founder of Achieve Fitness.  I’m very proud of him for getting his first published
paperback book finally done.  He’s been working on it for years.  That’s why I think he’s half nuts for giving the
first 1000 copies away for free.

But really, his new book is incredible… in it he does what no one else in the medical community does, and that
is put together all of the pieces… see, most people when they have back pain usually get treatments that only mask
the pain… and even then, the treatments only address the physical symptoms…

In this book he shows you:

- Why traditional treatments always FAIL to deliver lasting relief

- The 7 mistakes that most people make that keep them in pain

- How to identify the real, underlying causes of your pain

- Which treatments work, which ones don’t and how to know which is right for you

So if you have ever suffered from back pain, or are currently dealing with it, I highly recommend you grab a copy of his book now - and you can’t beat the price (FREE)…

But don’t wait or “think about it” as he has only 1000 copies available to give away and there are literally millions of
people with back pain who are likely to hear about this.

Click here to get your FREE copy now

And please be sure to tell him I sent you.

The Flu Vaccine Hoax

Friday, October 24th, 2008

Winter is upon us and like clockwork, we are being bombarded from the media about getting a flu shot.

Every year, roughly 1 million people get the flu.  Almost half of them become hospitalized by it, and over 30,000 die from it.

However, if you look more closely at that data, only 3% of those deaths are actually caused by the flu.  The rest, whom were all elderly, died from pneumonia.  The elderly are much more susceptible because of their weakened immune system.  Worse yet, the flu vaccine has not been proven to help prevent pneumonia.  So why take it?

I’m going to give you several reasons why you shouldn’t…

Flu is the name used to describe Influenza which is a disease caused by a weakness in the immune system.  More so, it has been linked to being caused by a deficiency in Vitamin D.

The best way to get Vitamin D is to expose yourself to the sun.  The sun aids your body in the production and absorption of vitamin D.  And coincidentally, this is the time of year where we begin to be deprived of sunlight.

I’ve never been a big fan of the flu shot.  Primarily because of the ingredients. The flu shot is a cocktail of many things you’d never think of putting your body.   At least not while you’re alive.   Here are some of the ingredients…

Formaldehyde(embalming fluid)
Mercury(associated with Autism and alzherimers)
Ethylene glycol(antifreeze)

Have you ever noticed how some people report feeling sick and like their energy has been drained from them immediately after taking the vaccine?

The vaccine also only protects against certain strands of the virus.  It is never known which strand will be in your area.  It’s an educated guess.

The vaccine is mostly marketed to children and the elderly who are at higher risks of acquiring the virus.

If you were to get sick, the vaccine also reduces the effectiveness of anti-biotic treatments because it contains several.   This reduces the effectiveness when necessary antibiotics are put into your body at the time of illness.

And most of all, at least for me anyway, I hate needles!  Yikes, I’d rather let someone kick me in the ‘you know what’.

So how do you naturally prevent the flu without a vaccine?

Rest -  Make sure you’re getting at least 6 hours of sleep per night.  Optimal is 8 as everyone knows but who has time for that.  Just trying to be realistic.

Get some exposure to the sun.  Go for a walk after lunch at work, take your dog for a longer walk, make an effort to do more outdoor activities.

And best of all, exercise!  While at it, why not make it an outdoor workout like Hiking, biking, jogging, etc…   It’s multi-tasking.  Our Outdoor Women’s Only boot camps are a great way to get an outdoor workout with some exposure to the sun and fresh non-recycled air.

Research has proven that exercise prevents illness and strengthens the immune system.  If you need help setting up an exercise plan, give us a call.  We’ll be glad to help get you on the way to great health.

It’s also recommended that you take an oral Vitamin D supplement to make up for the deficiency this time of year.  Don’t just count on the amount you get in your multivitamin.  Take an additional supplement.

Nutrition is also a big key in your well-being.  Make sure you are eating foods that are high in quality nutrient value; vitamins, minerals, fiber, quality fats, quality proteins, etc…

With a healthy lifestyle consisting of sound nutrition, exercise, and sleep, you have at your disposal the best natural vaccine for preventing the flu and other illnesses.   This has been my practice and I’ve never had the flu and couldn’t tell you the  last time I even had a cold.

To your continued good health,
